Hello, everyone! This page is the guidelines from the 2017 Woo-Con, but we will update it as our 2018 convention plans begin to fall into place! Still, this page gives a good idea of what to expect at the con, so feel free to check it out. In the meantime: Stay tuned, and thanks for checking out our page! When: Time TBD, April 2018.
Who: Everyone is welcome! College of Wooster students, staff, and faculty, residents of Wooster, people who are from out-of-town--all are free to join in the fun!
Do I have to get tickets? No, you do not! Woo-Con is entirely ticketless, so just show up and you should be fine, as long as you aren't breaking any rules. We will also have wristbands to give out to track attendance, though (for our own personal reference, to see how much the con has grown!).
Cost: Admission to Woo-Con is entirely free!

Rules & Guidelines

2017 Schedule here!

Woo-Con is a family-friendly convention. While we are at a college, we want to make this event safe and appropriate for all ages. So, this means we have some rules to follow:

  • 1. Cosplay appropriately. Essentially, if you want to wear a costume, make sure that anything that needs to be covered is covered. No shirt, no shoes, no service!
  • (More information on cosplay here.)

  • 2. On the topic of cosplay, cosplay is NOT consent. In other words, don't touch someone without their permission! Ask before you take their picture. Y'know. Common courtesy stuff.

  • 3. One more cosplay rule: No cosplay shaming. Is someone's cosplay different than the outfit in the original work? Are they a different race or gender than the character they are cosplaying? Well, that's not your problem. Don't be rude to people because of their cosplay level of expertise! Everyone can cosplay whoever they please, and we at Woo-Con will NOT stand for cosplay-shaming. Be kind to your fellow cosplayers, and support each other!

  • 4. Please try to keep coarse language down to a minimum. This is a college-student run convention, at a college. College students cuss like sailors. We get it. But, please remember that there are small children who probably shouldn't be hearing f-bombs and the like. So to all of you out there with an extensive expletive vocabulary--keep it PG, please!

  • 5. If going into one of our anime viewing rooms, DO NOT BRING/USE A CAMERA. Funimation Entertainment has generously given our convention a license to screen some of their titles. A part of this license agreement is that viewers do not tape or take photographs of the screenings. So, please do not tape or take pictures of the screening, or use a camera during our screenings!
  • • Curious about the anime we'll be showing? Check out the 2017 schedule!

  • 6. Be kind, courteous, and polite! Proper etiquette is appreciated. Disagree about your favorite Star Wars film? Favorite Pokemon? Make sure to do so respectfully! We also are a college, and students will be walking through from time to time, so please be polite and courteous to the students of The College of Wooster, as well.

  • 7. For College of Wooster students--COW Cards will not be accepted by Vendors. All vendors will take cash, though, so make sure to bring some if you want to buy anything!

  • 8. Please try to not block the aisles. We're a small college con, and we don't have a lot of space to work with. So, please be conscientious of your fellow con-goers and make sure to make way for them!

  • 9. Please know that we at COWA may use your picture for promotional material for the con, as might the College of Wooster. Don't worry, we'll make sure to ask before we take your picture! But we just wanted to give you the heads-up for pictures involving group shots, such as the ones in our Woo-Con! Gallery.

Want to be a vendor? Sadly, vendor spaces have all been filled! Still, check out our Vendor Page to see who will be selling their wares at the convention!
